At David you can find both gourmet restaurants and fast food restaurants like Mc Donald’s and KFC.

Pizzeria Hotel Nacional: even though this restaurant offers a very fancy decoration that makes it appear as a very expensive restaurant it is not, it offers many types of pizza, pastas and seafood dishes that are very tasty and sizeable. The prices range between $5.00 and $20.00 depending on what you choose. 8 slice pizzas are only $6.00 and 12 slice ones are only $9.00. It is located in the central street and the first east avenue.

Bocas Caribbean Restaurant: it is a small cozy place that offers an unlimited amount of seafood and fish dishes as well as some meat dishes. It offers a small bar to sit around if you are only interested to grab a couple of drinks or a beer. Prices range between $5.00 and $15.00 dollars. It is located in the central street and the second east avenue.

Al Kalifa Restaurant: it is a very cheap place located near the Romero supermarket in the south A street. It offers chicken and chips and Turkish dishes like falafel and humus.

“Nice clean good value”

The hotel is right on the main square. VERY VERY shiny CLEAN, bathroom larger and nicer than normal for these places. Staff really very helpful and friendly. Most speak English. Internet only in the lobby on two, 1 dollar for 30 minutes machines. So no ability to print anything. Also no ability to fax anthing internationally. But right across the street is an E-cafe with all those facilities. Its two minute walk to the National Hotel and its 2 good restaurants and its casino ( the casino is not recomended by any stretch)
The hotel restaurant is high end dining at bargain basment prices. Old world style with high ceilings and white table cloth good attentive service. I had a great big 1st class breakfast, fresh OJ, locally grown coffee, eggs, ham and toast with the crusts cut off and fresh butter—–tab was $3.41 US including tip!

moving to Boquete, looking at property and needed a place not to far away….good value for the price, convenient location, clean… food in the restaurant was good…. hotel desk staff friendly and speak english… secure parking underground…. would stay there again… rooms could use some updating but hey, it cost me $30 a night

The owner of this very purple place is very friendly and organized, right down to the informative booklet (pick up a copy in any one of the bathrooms) explaining herself and the hostel’s background! The purpose-built hostel, which has a nice garden area with hammocks and chairs and a comfortable communal area inside, is a little out of town, but is ideal for buses to Cerro Punta. Dorms and rooms are clean and spacious with solid beds and a choice of facilities. The kitchen is a good size, there is limited free internet and the owner offers great advice on what to do in the area.

Address is Calle C Sur and Ave 6 Oeste, DAVID. Rates range from $6.60 dorm, $17-21 rooms.

For on site relaxation or as a base of operations from which to enjoy all of the sea, beach, and highlands of Chiriqui Province Las Olas fills the bill. Here are a few opinions of those who have stayed at Las Olas.

LAS OLAS BEACH RESORT REVIEWS:

“great destination and base for travel to Boquete, Cerro Punta”

What a find, the dark sand beach to ourselves, walked it in a.m. each day of our 5 night stay. This was our favorite beach resort, a more lovely and enjoyable beach setting than the Coronado. (But also much farther away from Panama City) The staff is extremely warm and accomodating, the food was way above average. We had the all inclusive rate and found it to be very reasonable. The only drawback we saw was that the kayaks were taken to storage and not available. There was concern about riptides in Frommers, but we didn’t have a problem, others were swimming too. The water was a perfect temperature and clear. With a pool update, the place would be a favorite find for us. Still, we would still return in an instant. Most who stay there are there to buy real estate, or who own real estate in the immediate area. Boquete and Cerro Punta were pleasing day trips for us in our rented vehicle. We drove the Pan AM from Panama and enjoyed that experience as well. ALL the Panamanians we encountered across Panama were helpful and friendly.

“Absolute Perfection at Las Olas”

This was our second time at Las Olas. Everyone was wonderful, special thanks to Elicier and Jose for making sure our 6 day stay was heavenly. We found the food to be superb and the grounds were so peaceful and beautiful. A lot of work goes into making that place just lovely. We fell in love with Panama and hope to return next year where we would stay again at Las Olas. We would recommend this resort to anyone who would be interested in a week’s relaxation or just a few days stay.

You can also see our pool side Barbecue Restaurant just in back of the pool featuring your favorite barbecued foods. The barbecuing starts in the late afternoon at 5:00 pm, and closes at 11:00 pm so you can bring your late night appetite. Are you a large group and need space to meet or greet?  The main Boquete Salon pictured here can seat 200 people auditorium style or any other type of arrangement you prefer. Our fine restaurant can also cater your event. If this is to large; you can rent our Bugaba Salon  which is more intimate at half the size. We will be glad to make your arrangements run as smoothly as possible.

“First class hotel”

Upon arriving at the David airport my wife and I inquired of a good hotel to stay. The Hotel Nacional was recommended and got the hotel on the phone so that we could make a reservation.
We rented a car and drove there ourselves (with directions) and found the hotel to be very nice, clean and well staffed. Rooms were very nice, large, w/refrigerator and safe for personal items. The service/staff was polite and friendly. The bathroom was not large, but clean and acceptable. Had meals at 2 of their 3 restaurants and the food was delicious. Ate at the outdoor bar/restaurant and had the meal personally prepared by a chef. Even with a beer it was still under $10.
Although the hotel is in town you get the feeling of being in a hotel that cares about its appearance and reputation. I wish the other hotels I stayed at in Panama were of this quality.
